Q: Who can come to the pantry?
A: Everyone is welcome. If you're finding it tough to put food on the table, we're here for you. No judgment, no fuss - just friendly support.

Q: Do I need to bring ID or fill in forms?
A: We keep things simple. We ask for your name and contact details, and your Centrelink CRN if you have one. This helps us to keep track of how many people we're helping, and to provide some stats to Foodbank when needed.

Q: How often can I visit?
A: Once per day

Q: What kind of food will I find?
A: It changes week to week, but usually you'll find staples like pasta, rice, and canned goods, plus fresh fruit, veggies, or bread when they're available.

Q: Does it cost anything?
A: Yes, the groceries are low price. Some free items are also available most days. 

Q: But aren't the groceries provided to you for free?
A: No. We buy most of our groceries from Foodbank and some we purchase from low-cost wholesalers.  The state government generously provides freight free to regional NSW for Foodbank deliveries, but we pay for other deliveries.

Q: Who runs the pantry?
A: The pantry is operated by the Lismore Soup Kitchen, which is a volunteer-run organisation that has been providing assistance to people in the community for more than 35 years. We currently operate the pantry on Wyrallah Road in East Lismore. 

Q: Do you make a profit?
A: No. The Lismore Soup Kitchen operates the food pantry at a loss.

Q: So where does the money come from?
A: The Lismore Soup Kitchen receives generous donations from individuals and organisations such as the Catholic Diocese of Lismore and the Mountain Blue Foundation.

Q: Are groceries at the pantry cheaper than in supermarkets?
A: Most of the time yes. Sometimes supermarkets run special promotions, so occasionally a supermarket may charge less for a product.  

Q: Are you trying to put supermarkets out of business?
A: No. Our goal is to provide low-cost groceries to the public. We are not seeking to make any profit. 

Q: Can I get a job?
A: The pantry is run by volunteers.  If you'd like to be a volunteer, we'd welcome you as part of the team. 

For Volunteers

Q: How can I help out?
A: We'd love your help! Volunteers do everything from sorting food and stocking shelves to greeting visitors with a smile. Come in and chat with our team.

Q: Do I need experience?
A: Not at all. We'll show you the ropes. All you need is a caring heart and a willingness to lend a hand.

For Donors & Supporters

Q: Can I donate fresh food?
A: Yes. Fresh fruit, veggies, and bread are wonderful donations. We just ask that they're in good condition.

Q: Do you take money donations?
A: We sure do. Every dollar goes straight back into keeping the shelves stocked and the doors open.

Q: Are donations tax-deductible?
A: Yes. Donations to the Lismore Soup Kitchen are tax deductible.

Q: When are you open?
A: Our opening hours are 10AM to 2PM Monday-Friday. 

Q: How is the pantry funded?
A: Through generous donations from individuals and organisations such as the Catholic Diocese of Lismore and the Mountain Blue Foundation.
